SH POWER is a regional utility company with around 150 employees. It supplies the city of Schaffhausen and surrounding municipalities with electricity, gas and water and operates the municipal wastewater disposal system. SH POWER operates the Schaffhausen hydroelectric power plant and also manages the utilities of various municipalities on a contract basis. In addition to the supply of electricity, the company offers services in the fields of building technology and electromobility.
New administrative commission with 30% female representation
Incidentally, SH POWER is an administrative unit of the city of Schaffhausen and not a listed company. Nevertheless, the company is already implementing the requirements of the new Swiss stock corporation law: With Nadine Brauchli (VSE) and Anna Roschewitz (novatlantis), the seven-member administrative commission not only has the relevant technical expertise, but also a 30% share of women.
This is because the new stock corporation law has been in force since January 2021: now, large, listed companies based in Switzerland must fill at least 30 percent of board positions with women. In the management boards, 20 percent women are sufficient according to the will of the legislator. The companies have five (board of directors) and ten (executive management) years to achieve these benchmarks.
